Mteto Nyati is an accomplished business leader and investor with over 25 years of experience in the telecommunications, technology, and media sectors. He is the Chairman of BSG, a leading homegrown business and technology consulting company that helps clients deliver their digital transformation goals.
He is also the current chairperson of Eskom, as well as the founder of Wazo Investments, a private equity firm that invests in medium-sized companies with high growth potential and scalability.
Mteto holds a BSc in mechanical engineering from the University of KwaZulu-Natal. Mteto previously served as CEO of Altron, CEO of MTN South Africa, managing director at Microsoft South Africa, director of global technology services at IBM, managing consultant at Nampak, and engineering manager at Tastic Rice.
As a Yale World Fellow and a published author of the bestseller “Betting on a Darkie”, Mteto shares his insights and lessons on leadership, diversity, and innovation. He has received multiple awards and honors, including an honorary doctorate from the University of Johannesburg and the IT Personality of the Year in 2014 and 2016. He is passionate about people and technology, and believes in creating a positive impact in society through his work and investments.
